JERRY SERVED IN THE FORCE FROM APR 2, 1968 TO JUN 27, 1992. |
Jerry passed away peacefully in Edmonton, on
October 22, 2020, at the age of 72.
Jerry was born on January 26, 1948. He grew up
in Saskatoon, and attended St. Frances School,
then Aden Bowman Collegiate. As part of a large
family, hijinks was his nature.... with one of
his little brothers usually taking the brunt of
his fun.
Jerry only ever wanted to be a police officer
and was very excited to be accepted into the
RCMP. He graduated on October 7, 1968, at
Penfold, Alta, and was eager for his 1st posting
at High Level, Alberta.
From High Level, his stations continued in
Alberta through his career, to Peace River,
Calgary, Rocky Mountain House, Grimshaw,
Vermillion & Edmonton. His RCMP career included
two Commendations. One for having the highest
academic marks, the other for Bravery in calmly
disarming an individual.
Jerry married Joann in October 1974. They were
blessed with 2 children; Brian in May, 1976, and
Kevin in April, 1980.
Upon retirement from the RCMP, in 1993, Jerry
found a new passion! Antiques! He started a new
career as manager of Hello 5 Antiques for his
good friend Rod Church. Jerry loved it!
His other passion? Football! More specifically
The Riders & The Patriots. Any game day, you
could find Jerry glued to the tv, yelling
loudly... at the players, at the coches, and at
the refs!
Jerry was predeceased by his parents George &
Jane Mones, his brother Jack Mones, his
brother-in-law Bob Cherneski, his nephew
Christopher Schick, and his nephews Kevin &
Kelly Cherneski.
Jerry is survived by his ex-wife Joann and their
2 sons and grandchildren. Brian and his wife
Michele Vysohlid, and their children Chloe &
Hayden. Kevin and his wife Jackie Zurborg, and
their children Kennedy & Anders. Nothing made
Jerry prouder then being able to connect with
them.
He is survived by his sister Kathy Cherneski,
brothers Jim (Sandra) Mones & Bob Mones, sister
Leslie (Brian) Clark, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
